Careers is a highly valued part of our curriculum at Kettlebrook. One of our school principles is for students to “Take control of my future”. We aim to ensure that students are able make positive, informed choices and explore all the pathways available to them.
Kettlebrook has been assessed and awarded the national charter mark for Quality in Careers Standards (QiCs) in March 2022 – the first PRU in the country to be awarded with this charter mark. All of our students are offered a broad range of different experiences to help them prepare for the world of work, including experience of work places, visits to post 16 providers and employers. In house, our support includes ongoing one to one guidance interviews with a commissioned level 6 qualified Careers Adviser, group discussions and careers focused lessons.
Our Careers Adviser monitors our students’ progress annually beyond year 11 for 2 years. We work closely with the local authority link adviser to support our students to make a positive transition to their post 16 destination. The local authority also offer continued community based support to our post 16 students. We work collaboratively to ensure we offer timely support as needed.
