Careers is a highly valued part of our curriculum at BPRU. One of our school principles is for students to “Take control of my future”. We aim to ensure that students are able make positive, informed choices and explore all the pathways available to them.
BPRU has been assessed and awarded the national charter mark for Quality in Careers Standards (QiCs) in March 2024 – the second PRU in the country to be awarded with this charter mark. All of our students are offered a broad range of different experiences to help them prepare for the world of work, including experience of work places, visits to post 16 providers and employers. In house, our support includes one to one guidance interviews with a commissioned qualified Careers Advisor, group discussions and careers focused lessons.
Our advisor monitors our students’ progress annually beyond year 11, until their 19th birthday. We work closely with Entrust and the local authority around transition to support this process. Entrust also offer continued support to our post 16 students.
